How to Beat the Summer Brain Drain

Your child will experience a fun filled summer while preparing them for the upcoming school year

A psychological study found that children in martial arts have an increased sense of responsibility, a decrease in willingness to take foolish risks and a higher sense of self-esteem. This is why millions of parents are using Martial Arts to supplement their children’s education.

At our Martial Arts institution we have the best programs in Canada. Our program is vigorously designed in conjunction with experts in the field of education to provide social, physical, emotional and attitudinal growth.

If you’ve already looked at Taekwondo/ karate schools, you may have seen some that weren’t really set up for teaching kids. Your concern is valid – children studying martial arts have different needs than adults, yet some schools simply modify their adult courses and call them ‘children’s karate.’

At our martial arts institution, we have developed specialized programs for taekwondo/karate instruction in different age groups to ensure that the learning exercises are fun and safe and educative. We have the Taekwondo Kinder Karate Program for children ages 4-5 years and the Junior Achievers Program for children ages 6-8 years, special winning attitude team program for ages 9-12, as well as specific programs for Teens & Adults.

At our martial arts institution your child learns and practices in a physical and philosophical environment that also emphasizes their safety. It begins with strict discipline within the dojo/dojang, or training gym, where our instructors discourage showmanship and egotism, promoting camaraderie and mutual respect. It’s completed with a K2000 Safety Floor and other padded equipment that reduce accident risk during training.

The best way to determine if your child is ready to begin a martial arts program is to have them actually try a class and see how they respond. At our institution we use our 3 quick start  Beginner Introductory Program to help you discover when is the right time to get involved with karate.

Our instructors will assess your child during their trial classes and will let you know if and when they can be accepted into the program. Don’t worry, if there are not ready, we will tell you and also recommended then we think you should bring them back to try again. We want you to feel comfortable in your decision to join our academy, whenever that time may be.

There are many types and styles of martial arts offered at various clubs throughout the city. While the names vary – karate, tae kwon do, ju jitsu, judo – the type of techniques taught can range from striking (punching and/or kicking), throwing and takedowns, grappling and submission moves.

At our institution we feel that the best martial art combines the elements of effective self-defence within an environment that helps develop strong character – Confidence, Respect and Discipline. That is why our curriculum is comprised of elements from both traditional karate and Taekwondo. Equally as important is how the techniques are taught. Our certified Black Belt instructors know how to keep kids focused and having fun while ensuring they progress at a pace that encourages further effort. Combine that with our wide selection of training equipment for every person in class and you get a program that will keep your child having fun for years to come!

In the beginning, most students train two to three classes a week depending on the program. As students advance, more opportunities are available.

Class size can vary depending on the program and time of year. Most classes have anywhere from 15-25 students keeping a student to staff ratio of 10/1.

Absolutely. Our schedules have classes designed just for the beginner student so they feel comfortable.

No, we have ongoing registration and you could join in our program at any time.

Anytime someone goes away on vacation or has an injury for more than a week, time can be added to their program as long as we are contacted ahead of time. Make up classes and special summers off programs are also available.

Absolutely, that is why our institution is so successful, because we teach traditional martial arts with a fun, educational approach.

No way! In fact, martial arts makes kids calmer and more respectful than ever. Martial arts always has been about peace, and it always will be.

Our program is extremely safe. We have measures upon measures in place to ensure that your child will stay safe, and have a great time. From stretching to warmups to very close supervision – we’ve got your child covered. Injuries do happen sometimes – but they’re quite rare.

Yes! In fact, martial arts is often a “home” for kids who don’t excel at team sports. Kids who have trouble in baseball, basketball, etc. often come to martial arts and do extremely well. And it’s okay if your child is not athletic right now. Through our classes, they’ll get in great shape and become very athletic.

Martial arts are for boys and girls. Our classes have a good mix of both, too. So if you’re worried about your girl being alone in a group of boys, wipe that worry from your mind!
